Sunshine in birthdays

Birthdays are a time where you can't help but smile, family comes over. For one day in the year you get to be the special person in the room, one day which brings out everyones feelings towards you and a whole bunch of presents too.

It's the aftermath of my birthday...there's wrapping paper left on the floor, half a cake still in the fridge and a card full of lovely birthday messages...

Birthdays bring joy and happiness by bringing people together where you build memories that last forever.

Sunshine in music

Lately music calls out to me more and more....It's always been a massive part of my life, I always wake up with a song in my head, find myself humming a tune without realising it and singing along to the radio.

Music always brings a little ray of sunshine to my life, sometimes it brings tears and sometimes joy.

I've decided to make a playlist of the music in my life.

You can find the playlist in my new blog

http://mlpmusicinmylife.blogspot.com/

I hope you like it.

Sunshine in the dark days

I know I've been gone for a long time and I apologise to all my readers and followers.

Sometimes things don't go as to plan as you thought and you find yourself faced with dark days...My plan was to start a diary and document 2012 because I thought it would be eventful in a good way but now its feeling really dark...

I'm still at odds as to whether I post and share my dark days in my diary (http://mlpdeardiary2012.blogspot.com/)

Now as I look back at the last blogspots it's pretty much the turning point of my year, after that day it all went downhill...But lets not dwell on the darkness and focus on the brightside, which in my case is the love and support of my family during this hard break-up.

When your family and friends are there for you...whether they stay up til stupid oclock listening to you cry down the phone babbling absolute nonsense, stroking your hair as you soak their shoulder with tears and when they try to cheer you up when you stop smiling.

Sometimes you take your family and friends for granted because their always there, you just don't realise how much they mean to you and how much you mean to them.

Life is full of surprises and it can take being surrounded by darkness to bring a good thing to light.

Sunshine in a surprise

Having a few surprises in your day can bring a little ray of sunshine. Whether you surprise someone or they turn out to surprise you, its always good...

Today was full of surprises. I woke up to the surprise of my nana finishing the marmalade in the morning so it was ready for me to have it for my breakfast on my toast. Then later in the day we all decided to surprised grandad with a birthday cake since everyone was together. Later when Patrick came over and had tea and watched movies with my family I was surprised in a good way that everything went really well today...

Overall the surprises in my day made me realise how much my nana loves me, how much we love my grandad and how we all came together as a family and had a nice day. We had dinner together, sat and laughed at films together and overall had a really nice day.

I hope I'm surprised like this more often...

Sunshine with my nana

Today I spent the day bonding with my nana, I've probably told you all about my grandparents coming over to the UK to visit. Well today spending time with her on a one to one basis was lovely and brightened up my day...

My family love to bake. Everyone in the family has a signature dish. My mum makes the best carrot cakes with lemon drizzle icing. My special dish is cupcakes with pink frosting, and my nan makes marmalade and jams like you've never tasted.

She brings them over from back home and smuggles them into the UK because she knows we love it soo much, and today I wanted to learn how she makes marmalade so that I can have that little reminder of her every day at breakfast as a spread the marmalade on my toast.

We went out and bought the fruit we wanted which was quince (tastes like a cross between and apple and a pear). We peeled then grated about 3 massive ones and covered it in sugar. Then we boiled the skins with cloves to get all the goodness out of the skins. We sieved the juice into the pot and added the grated quince we boiled it for a while and left it too soak.

Tomorrow were going to boil it again until it starts to look like a good marmalade should. Once it's all prepared I will upload the final product.

What made me smile about this little bit of binding between my nan and me was not that I get to have a pot full of marmalade that will last me a month. But that something got passed down to me from two generations and something that one day I want to pass down to my grandchildren if I'm blessed enough to have some.

Family bonds are precious and don't let things die out, pass them on for generations and pass the sunshine along with it.

Sunshine in January

Christmas is over, new year has passed, we're all back at work and back to our old lives but sometimes there are those little reminders that Christmas wasn't that long ago...

Walking to work the other day I can across something that just put a massive smile on my face and I just had to stop and share it with you all...

Sunshine in a resolve

Sometimes people can be sly, manipulative and just plain rude. At somepoint in your life eventually you will be faced with a confrontation...because let's be honest people are complicated...

There are days where there are confrontations in life and you just need to stopnthe pettiness and be the biger person and today I believe that I was the bigger person. I apologised even though I don't believe I should have been the one apologising...and even though she didn't apologise I will be the bigger person and just accept that not everyone will be mature and accept their faults and that you have to be the bigger person when an issue arises.

Atleast I know that when it comes to doing the right thing I did my part. And doing the right thing is always important.

*sorry if this isn't as bright and bubbly as my usual posts but today all I can do is look at the bright side of an  argument and smile because atleast I did the right thing and hopefully it has all been resolved.

Sunshine in my new year resolution

This year my new years resolution has been rather simple. To keep being happy, to keep my spirits high and to always be grateful for my life...I normally never keep my resolutions. I always end up eating that bar of chocolate I told myself I wouldn't, or have a bit of a potty mouth even though I said I would be more civil. But this year I've decided that I can do this...

My resolution this year is to keep a diary. 2012 is going to be a year of big changes.

I've finished university and  will be job searching to start my career. I've found the person I want to spend the rest of my life with and now my life is beginning to change. So I wanted to document this year because I don't want to forget a moment of it.

So I went out and bought that beautiful Diary I saw in the sales and I've been writing in it everyday since new years eve...

To take things one step further I've decided to upload my diary to my new blog (which can be found  at http://mlpdeardiary2012.blogspot.com/ - incase you were wondering )

Well I hope that my diary entries will make you a smile and that maybe just maybe they might bring a little ray of sunshine to your life.

P.s just to let you know I will continue to update 'A little ray of sunshine'  I'm not planning to stop sharing what to makes me smile everyday with you all.

Sunshine in girls reunited

Last night out of the blue my bestfriend messaged me and we decided to have a reunion and meet up for a coffee or a bite to eat. When work and life manages to drag you down and keep good friends apart having a reunion can really bring sunshine to your life...

During work I kept looking at my watch wanting the time to go faster for my work day to end so I go see my friends.

Once the clock hit 9 I walked out the door and even though it was raining my spirits couldn't be dampened. I saw my girly mates from a mile away and kept smiling. We stood outside my workplaces door trying to work out if the coffee shops were still open and if we would rather eat or have a hot chocolate instead. My tummy rumbled and I knew where we were going, the plan was to to go hot choclate and instead we hada spicy doner...It was amazing I enjoyed the food but I must admit I loved the company more. We talked about where I lives have taken us in the last few months we've spent apart.

There was stories of my engagement preparations, a proposal that one friend decided to reject (the guy happened to be shorter than him so it wasn't the best match) there was then the talk of work life and how boring and repetitive it can be.

Being able to seperate even just an hour together with my friends made my day and all the months that we spent apart seemed to disappear. Close friends should always be cherished because they bring sunshine and warmth to our lives.

Sunshine in friends

Once again my blog includes a little ray of sunshine from work. Having a nice close knit environment at work, makes me feel like I'm surrounded by friends that we are a big happy family...

The other day I was feeling a little bit down because I was feeling a little bit left out from all the chit chat and was feeling a little bit paranoid.

At work there are a few girls that are my age and after a little heart to heart with one of them I realised that our relationship had changed. We went on break together and we talk about life, all the guy stories we have, all the things we want to do for new years eve and just having a proper laugh. We have a few jokes and a laughs and now we are a lot closer.

Having the confidence and strength to confide in a someone can make you so much closer and you  begin to find alot of things in common. Having a friend turn into a close friend can really brighten up your day, because the people in your life and all you friends bring colour and sunshine into your day to day life .

Sunshine in good news

Sometimes when you hear good news you can't help but be happy, even when the good news doesn't affect you at all...

I know a lovely girl from America she's kind of like a pen pal. We email and stay in touch, sometimes we send letters on Christmas and new year. In a weird way we've never met but we get along so well.

She was mentioned in one of my previous blogs when I found her present she sent me one Christmas and putting a smile on my face. Well I've known her at her best and at her worst....to finally hear some good news from her made my day. Finally all the good she does has paid off and she was lucky enough to find a guy that makes her smile and laugh the way she deserves to be treated.

Hearing that other people that you love and care about are having good luck and fortune can make you feel good too. The sunshine in their day can bring sunshine to your day as well. We shouldn't be jealous and envious of the good things that happen to others but be happy for them and hope that good things might come your way too.

Sunhine on the sales

I hate to admit it but most of my blogs these days seem to be around work and the store I'm in...all my blogs seem to include shopping, buy,or sales. For this I probably should apologise, but in a rather sad kind of way, my life does revolve around my job in a retail store. Today the store is on a 'up to 50% off sale' which lets be honest is pretty deceptive(but lets put that aside for now) the sale being om the lower ground floor while I work in the foods department on the first floor. Well today as I was on my way to my break as I went downstairs I had my first encounter with all the lovely sale stuff. I saw all the Christmas cards on sale, the cookbooks, and the calendars notebooks and organisers...

I've had my eye on the organisers for 2012 and had been waiting for them to be a bit more reasonable in the finance department-times can be tough sometimes and your purse strings are pretty tight. So here I saw my chance and had a quick rummage through the organisers and that's where I saw this pink metallic 2012 diary. I opened it up and had a flick through the pages and realised it was what I like to call a 'proper diary' the kind you write stories and the goings on of your life, this wasn't just a '9 o'clock doctors appointment' 'call nan after work' kind
of diary.

Looking down at this diary I couldn't help but want to buy it but had that horrid feeling in the pit of my stomach, the kind you get when you watch an animal programme and deep inside you want one, but know after a couple of months you'll lose interest and never look after it. Well that's the feeling I had as I put down this beautiful diary and decided to get a 2012 planner/diary instead.

This feeling of sadness had a bit of silver lining and made me want to work that little bit harder to update my blog more often, and hope that I may get the confidence to buy the lovely diary before the new year and have it be my new years resolution to keep a diary, because I really do get the feeling that this year will be a really important turning point in my life. This are really looking up for me in the love/relationship aspect of my life, my work/career aspect of life also hopefully going somewhere this year or next since I've finally graduated university/college and family life being on a nice stable level.

I've realised that I've started rambling and seem to be going on a tangent and missing the sunshine completely. But my point today, is that sometimes the bad feelings that you get when your unsure about your ability to do something, can actually lead you to work harder so that maybe next year you will be able to do it. That there is always a silver lining in everything. You just have to look.

Sunshine after Christmas

I'm hoping that all the craziness of Christmas is over. The rushing around we did on Christmas eve to get the present we forgot to get that person. The Christmas day unwrapping presents and spending the day surrounded by family. And now boxing day where we have all winded down and recovered from the hangover from the office Christmas party.

I do wish that everyone had a great Christmas holiday and found a little bit of sunshine in your lives. My little bit of sunshine is how much I enjoyed being around family and my almost inlaws.

I spent Christmas with my brother watching our favourite sitcom laughing the whole day. Today I spent my day with my boyfriend and his family and felt like I belonged there. Feeling like one of the family brought sunshine to my day and made me smile and wish that I spend the rest of my life feeling like I belong and a part of the family.

Sunshine in card shopping

Everyone is going Christmas crazy, but there are some that still want to continue living their lives as normal, and the thing that made me smile was a customer today who was shopping for a card...

Lets be honest in the build-up to Christmas everything seems to be cranberry sauce, turkeys and chestnuts that's not to mention the wrapping paper, stocking fillers and Christmas cards. The only problem is that to make room for all these wonderful Christmas things some things need to be cut out and less is stocked in store.

Today she was looking for a birthday card for her 18 year old nephew and I have to say that the selection was pretty bad. there was only one card left that said 18 and that was a pink hello kitty card. No where had cards there was soo little choice that I couldn't help but laugh.

All the craziness of Christmas makes you think...The people that stock the shops for Christmas don't seem to realise that we all don't want to eat brussel sprouts and roast potatoes everyday or buy Christmas cards every day of the week...we also have birthdays to plan, stir frys to cook and the little things that you need everyday.

Hopefully once all the Christmas preparation is over we can continue to our everyday lives where the shop shelves were filled with everyday food for everyday life.

Sunshine in Christmas shopping

Shopping, something you do most weeks of the year but for some strange reason when you go Christmas shopping is just soo much more different...I don't know why but Christmas shopping is better than any other kind of shopping.

With me I like to put thought into my presents, I take time when picking them out and I like to get presents that are useful...not just for Christmas.

Shopping for other people is just nicer to do because the whole time I'm shopping I enjoy myself. I keep in mind the image of how much they will smile when they unwrap my present I picked out with care and how happy it will make them.

I hope that every one gets a presents that has meaning and was picked with love from people that care.

Sunshine in mother and daughter

There is something about the bond between a mother and daughter that is just soo special...

No matter how old I am, my mum is always looking after me. She makes sure I've had a good dinner when I come home from work. She notices when I have redder cheeks than normal and checks my temperature to make sure I'm okay. It's this kind of love between two people that makes me smile and makes me appreciate what I have and I hope that all you lovely people have a nice bond with your loved ones, whether it's a mother who loves you a father who looks out for you, a sister who you can't live without or that best friend who is always there for you in your darkest hour.

Appreciate the loved ones around you and make them smile.
